Colorful abstract composition. This monoprint (a unique print) of a woman by Ellen Urselmann (1941) is a great example of how artistic creation can be enormously decorative and a feast for the eyes.
Urselmann studied handicraft in The Hague and painting at the Academy Minerva in Groningen. Next to that, she also studied andragogy (the understanding of the science and practice of adult learning – let’s stay with art!) at the VU in Amsterdam.
For almost a year she made an artistic work trip through Indonesia where she took inspiration from culture and climate. Urselmann specializes in paintings, color woodcuts and portraiture. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the country and in Indonesia, Serbia and Belgium. Also, she has various publications on art on her name.
