Thijs Hanekamp is self-taught and therefore paints mainly for pleasure: he feels more like a painter than an artist. He gets his inspiration from everywhere, as long as it is not too renaissance and academic. It is allowed to do something to the viewer: disapproval, amazement, a smile or a laugh or maybe a tear.
His works will not change the world, but the humour that is often in them regularly provides viewing pleasure, for both the creator himself and the viewer.
Thijs’ cheerful and colourful works are increasingly appreciated. And now also available at the Kokky Art shop!
