Marouflé technique painting by Reggi Scherpbier. The work comes with a wooden frame made by the artist himself. There are two more works of Scherpbier available at Kokky Art.
Reggie Scherpbier (1910-1991) was a Dutch artist who very colorfully depicts landscapes, still lifes, portraits or birds. Scherpbier studied art at the Vrije Academie in Amsterdam where he later in his career taught to Freek Rempt and others.
Besides being a painter, he was also active as a (pen) draughtsman, watercolourist and pastellist. Scherpbier was a member of Pulchri Studio in The Hague and of the Society for Fine Arts ‘De Kring’ in Delft. He worked in Groningen, Amsterdam, Delft, France and Corsica.
The works available at Kokky Art are painted in a strong impressionist style and feel rather mysterious. Scherpbier’s style is known for its loose touch and spirited brushstrokes.
