Large oil on canvas painting by Dutch artist Elisabeth Jonkers (1966). Colourful women are among her most typical and praised subject matters of which this painting is one of her most stylish. The painting is in great condition.

Elisabeth Jonkers is a Dutch painter born in Boulougne Billancourt, France. Jonkers’ paintings are often of large size and are praised for their beautiful use of colour. Mainly oil paintings with colourful, soft-warm tones of green and blue, red and pink. Her work is imaginative. Although the reality around us is her starting point, while painting she is often tempted to simplify forms and add extra colour.

Jonkers likes to work from a model, but then simplifies the surfaces and intensifies the colours. With colour, she expresses her feelings and seeks new harmony. In this way, her renowned colourful women are depicted in great decorative and artistic manner.

Jonkers has exhibited her art in various galleries across The Netherlands, as well as in USA and Germany. In 2010, she was the winner of Dutch Telivision Portrait Contest ‘Sterren op het doek’ featuring Dutch actress Willeke van Ammelrooy.
