Ton Schouten was born in Breda, The Netherlands. He is a sculptor, environmentalist and graphic artist.
Schouten works in a typical style that reminds us of the Zero movement from the 1960s. Nevertheless, he started making a series of silkscreens in the 70s, in the spirit of the Zeros. In these graphic works, people are central but abstracted into geometrical black and white compositions. Works are related to disaster and war zones, then and now. They are very much universal in subject matter and style.
