Abstract painting by Dutch artist Karel Bleijenberg in his typical renowned style. The picture is in great condition and newly framed in a silver wooden modern frame. The colours are bright and vivid. The composition is strong and colours really seem to never be the same when looking at the work.

Karel Bleijenberg (1913-1981) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and was a pupil of Joop Kropff. After his studies, he lived in Amsterdam for some time and settled in The Hague in 1937. After the war, Bleijenberg spent some time in Paris, and went on study trips to France and Spain where he painted landscapes. He also painted portraits and abstract compositions. Bleijenberg was a member of Pulchri Studio and the Art Circle of The Hague.

With other artists from The Hague such as Theo Bitter, Kees van Bohemen, Jan Cremer, Lotti van der Gaag, Willem Hussem, George Lampe, Jaap Nanninga, Jan Roëde and Gerard Verdijk, Bleijenberg exhibited at the Posthoorn gallery between 1956 and 1962. They were called the Posthoorn Group and belonged to the New Hague School.
