About Kokky Art

Kokky Art
The passion for collecting art hit me early. Since childhood, I have been going to auctions and art markets, and scouring the internet in search of hidden treasures. I soon discovered that art is not solely for the wealthy and privileged, but that it is possible to buy art for little money too. The result was a student room bursting at the seams with art.
This passion for art was also expressed in the lecture halls. Besides studying finance, I took courses in art history. A thesis on art investments brought those two worlds together. It raised the question whether art is a good alternative investment. The conclusion was: buy art mainly for the ‘aesthetic dividend’, so simply because you can enjoy it.
Art For Every Wallet
Around me, I see more and more people decorating their own homes and wanting to do something with that blank, white wall above the couch. Unfortunately, people often opt for dime in a dozen posters that roll out of the printer in large quantities. And this is quite understandable: after all, the art world is very inaccessible. Galleries are stiff and unapproachable, art fairs are pretentious and expensive, auctions are not very often and provide little information, and the internet is full of forgeries and greedy dealers. However, I am convinced that it is possible to buy great art for the same amount of money as mass produced prints or posters.
That’s why there is Kokky Art: an accessible art shop with a wide range of affordable paintings, watercolours and graphic work. No pretentiousness, just beautiful art with the prices attached.
Because why would you buy a poster when you can buy art?
Collection
Kokky Art offers a wide range of artworks by mainly Dutch artists in different styles and techniques: from large abstract oil paintings to refined cityscape etchings of Amsterdam. I only sell art I would have at home. Without getting too woolly: I sell pieces that do something to me, that move or inspire me, artworks that make me wonder or raise questions, that challenge me, but of course they can also just be beautiful.
From my house on the Bosboom Toussaintstraat in Amsterdam, I buy and sell what I like, hang it on my walls and sell it after a while. This way, I can keep renewing my own collection and offer art for affordable prices to everyone who is interested.
Pop-up Sales
Every quarter, I organise a pop-up sale where I exhibit part of my collection. Previous editions were on Lauriergracht and Herengracht in Amsterdam. But above all, I like to display my collection at home. Because who needs a sterile gallery space when you can stage an art show in a living room instead?
The events are announced on this website and via Instagram. So keep a close eye on that!
