Louis Landré (1875-1952) was an etcher, watercolourist and pen-and-ink artist born in Utrecht. He became best known as a skilled draughtsman and watercolourist of topographical cityscapes. Most of these have Amsterdam as their subject, the city where he lived and worked from 1896 onwards.

He was also a regular visitor to Hotel Spaander in Volendam in the early 20th century, where he painted the local fishing population in cheerful colours.

Louis LandrĂ© wrote two children’s books, which he provided with drawings, and he also illustrated publications by others.

Landré was a member of the Pictura drawing society, which included many famous painters among which H.W. Mesdag is the most renowned
