Hakkie van Rosmalen’s (1923-2001) official name was Harrie and he was the son of Jan van Rosmalen, owner of the well-known art shop ‘Borzo’ in the Verwersstraat in Den Bosch. After a period at the Beekvliet Seminary and a few days at the Royal School for Arts, Techniques and Crafts in Den Bosch, Hakkie took lessons from Heinrich Campendonk and others at the State Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam.
After graduating, Hakkie settled in Den Bosch as an independent artist. In addition to commissions from large companies and institutions, he also produced many independent works, including portraits and situations from Den Bosch.
Work of ‘Hakkie’ can be found in the Museum of Religious Art in Utrecht and in many public and private collections in the Netherlands.
