Abstract figure, 1972

Oil on canvas from the 1970s. On itself in good condition, but the muscle frame is skewed. Therefore, the screws on the left side are visible. This could have been resolved quite easily, but I chose not to do that because I believe this adds to the artistic and historical value of the piece. I like to see the affected over time and keep the scars visible, except when it is at the cost of the artwork itself – of course. In this case, I really like it. What do you think? The work is signed ‘F. ter Horst’ but no additional information on the artist has been found. More paintings have come to auction before, all in the same abstract cubistic forms and style. Here, we see an abstract mystic figure painted very colourfully and vivid.
